PERUCHO ORGANIC AGRICULTURE EXPERIENCE

Costs/Requirements

Interns should be able to speak basic Spanish or be willing to learn, and should enjoy the simple life outdoors, and healthy food. We have Spanish classes upon request. We encourage volunteers to speak Spanish in the farm, and of course, when they work and share activities with the local families. They’re 100% Spanish-speaking.

-Interns must be 20 + years old.

-If you need alcohol and /or drugs to get through the day, please don’t apply. Moderate alcohol is permitted during certain festivities in designated areas only. Our facilities are smoke and alcohol free.

-Interns are expected to work arround 38 hours a week.

-Minimum time commitment 2 weeks.

-While we have a small health clinic in Perucho, the nearest hospitals are in Quito, one hour away. Therefore, we are unable to accept volunteers with serious health conditions that might require frequent medical attention.

-Check that your insurance covers medical care, including transportation home, accidents, and loss of property. You should also be covered against you injuring other people or losing or breaking other peoples' property. Make sure your insurer knows that you will be working on a farm. You will be asked to produce evidence of your insurance at any moment.

-Not all medications are available in Ecuador. Please bring sufficient supplies for your stay.

The program starts every Monday, so volunteers can arrive to the farm on Monday morning, or Sunday afternoon. Fee covers accommodation in shared bedroom, 2 meals a day from Monday to Friday, basic training, cultural evening, and tour of the farm and the village. It doesn’t cover insurance, travel expenses, your personal purchases at the grocery store, medical expenses, clothes, souvenirs, etc.
