PERUCHO ORGANIC AGRICULTURE EXPERIENCE

About POAE

We are part of a private program. We work directly with the local farmers and in coordination with the local government. The contribution from learners and interns  (fee), covers administrative expenses, the rent for the farm and the house, salaries for staff, and meals. Volunteers help with cooking activities so they can have a cultural exchange with local families. We can host up to 8 participants in the house at our little farm. The house has 4 bedrooms with 2 to 4 beds each, 2 bathrooms with hot water, a clean and nice traditional kitchen, a charming dining room, and a living room with table games, maps, books, and magazines. We don’t have single rooms, so be prepared to share your room with other participants. There is also a large patio and a beautiful garden. We produce most of our food and we are mostly vegetarian, but we don’t mind eating organic meat and fish. Our food is fresh and organic. We cook together and eat together 2 meals a day from Monday to Friday. You may prepare your own meals in the common kitchen during the weekend. There is access to mobile phones Internet deliverd by at least 3 providers. There are 6 restaurants in Perucho.

Sometimes, working outdoors can be hard because of the heat of the sun. We have some indoor activities like any other farm, but sometimes we have to work outside under the sun or rain. Don’t let this scare you. You can wear a hat or a raincoat. We have some rubber boots, but you can bring your own. There are some bugs like mosquitoes during the rainy season, so bring your favorite insect repellent. We are malaria free for about half a century. Some locals may ask you to take them with you to your homeland, please be polite but don’t make any offers.
